Hanwha Life Esports has announced its newest roster change for the 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) Summer Split. The South Korean esports organization has signed top laner Lee “DuDu” Donju, after recently releasing substitute bot laner Jeon “Zenit” Tae-gwon and mid laner Kang “Tempt” Myung-gu.

Hanwha Life Esports signs DuDu

“We would like to welcome the Top Laner ‘DuDu’ Lee Dongju, a trainee who’s called up in the first division at Hanwha Life Esports,” wrote Hanwha Life Esports in a Facebook post. “We look forward to seeing the future growth of ‘DuDu’ with his excellent physicality. Please look forward to and support him so he can show you with great performance.”

DuDu will share the top laner role with Lee “CuVee” Seong-jin, while playing alongside jungler Kang “Haru” Min-seung, bot laner Oh “Vsta” Hyo-seong, support Son “Lehends” Si-woo, and mid laner Kim “Lava” Tae-hoon. However, not much is known about the new player other than his being formerly with the organization as a trainee. Nevertheless, he will be a fresh face for the roster, which is something Hanwha Life Esports needs.

The organization finished the 2020 LCK Spring Split in 8th place, tied with fellow team APK Prince’s 6 wins and 12 losses. The team seemed to start off strong with a 2 – 1 win over T1 during Week 1, which led fans to believe an upward shift may be on the horizon. However, they quickly fell to others like DAMWON Gaming and KT Rolster.

Another chance: LCK Summer Split

Hanwha Life Esports had a mixed performance during the Spring Split. Despite wins against top teams like Gen.G and DragonX, the roster also fell short to those same ones at later matches. The organization barely missed the relegation cut-off line, with SANDBOX Gaming and Griffin being sent to Summer Promotion instead.

The departure of players Zenit and Tempt, who previously competed for KT Rolster and bbq Olivers respectively, means that the team will need to sign new players. Hanwha Life Esports has never made it to the upper half bracket of the LCK, and the 2020 LCK Summer Split will give them one more chance.
