Legendary Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) player Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovács has joined Dignitas as a stand-in for the Flashpoint league. GuardiaN had been inactive for some time till now after being benched by Natus Vincere (Na’Vi). He was replaced by Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy after four months of inconsistent performances. Headcoach Andrii “blad3” Gorodenskyi stated the decision to bench GuardiaN was made because Na’Vi required higher team synergy. Dignitas and Flashpoint will be GuardiaN’s opportunity to return to action.
Flashpoint season 1 is set to kick off this week on March 13 and continue through April 19. Twelve teams will compete in Los Angeles, California for a $1 million prize pool. Alongside Dignitas, the eight other teams known to be competing thus far are MAD Lions, Gen.G, BIG, MIBR, Cloud9, c0ntact, Orgless, and Envy. As of yet, the final three teams have not been announced.
GuardiaN’s fresh start
According to HLTV, the announcement comes as a result of reports regarding 19-year-old Dignitas player Håkon “hallzerk” Fjærli being unable to play due to visa issues. GuardiaN will replace hallzerk until he’s able to sort out his visa. While the replacement is temporary, the loss of Dignitas’ young super star is a disappointment to many.
Hallzerk’s recent statistics show an average 1.23 rating against top 5 opponents in the world. He has a strong K/D ratio standing at 1.15, one of the highest average ADRs on Dignitas (75.6), and an impact of 1.20. His contributions to the team were integral in the team’s recent success during the qualifying process for the Europe Minor. In response to Dignitas’ official announcement, GuardiaN expressed his excitement and appreciation towards the organization for giving him the opportunity to step back into service once more.
Thank you for this amazing opportunity! Always wanted to play with these CS legends, finally i can experience it for few games ☺️
