Kim steps into the role after founding the Evil Geniuses’ franchise team in the League of Legends Championship Series. He also previously worked with Riot Games as the LCS Insights Lead.

Kim’s new role in CLG

As Head of CLG, Kim’s responsibilities will include advancing various initiatives within the org. These initiatives are centered around business performance, marketing partnerships, growth initiatives and fan engagement. In addition, Kim will be working closely with MSG Sports’ professionals. This includes Vice President of Business Operations Daniel Fleeter and CLG’s Founder George “HotshotGG” Georgallidis.

“Greg has built an incredible reputation within the epsorts industry around his passion for growing the world of professional and amateur gaming,” Fleeter said. “On behalf of the entire CLG staff, I am excited to work with him as we continue to cultivate CLG and drive the long-term success of our organization.”

CLG currently has teams competing across a wide variety of titles. These include League of Legends, Fortnite, CS:GO, VALORANT, Apex Legends and Super Smash Bros.

“I’m excited to lead CLG into the future,” Kim said. “I look forward both to advancing the business and collaborating with our passionate fanbase to build further upon the organization’s legacy.”

CLG’s League of Legends team earned two back-to-back LCS titles in 2015 and 2016. But, since the 2019 summer split, the team has struggled to place ninth or 10th within the LCS.

As Kim becomes the Head of CLG, their LCS team is tied for eighth place with four weeks left in the regular LCS season.

Upcomer reached out to MSG Sports with a request for additional comments. The organization has yet to respond at press time.
