Following this year’s CSGO GG.Bet Ice Challenge, which featured only four teams and a $50,000 prize pool, the tournament will return on a much bigger scale in 2020. Na’Vi headlines as one of the eight teams that will receive direct invites to the event in February in the United Kingdom.
8 teams will fight for a slice of the $250,000 prize pool
GG.Bet hosted the GG.Bet Ice Challenge in London back in February. It featured Na’Vi, North, Heroic, and AVANGAR, and the Danish North took home $30,000 out of the $50,000 prize pool after winning the final against Na’Vi. For 2020, the tournament organizers have not only increased the prize pool to $250,000 but also invited eight teams to participate.
Currently, AVANGAR, Na’Vi, and Heroic are the three teams confirmed for the tournament. The remaining five will be unveiled at a later date in the upcoming 2020 CSGO season.
CSGO on the rise in England
Great Britain, especially England, has not been the biggest stage for Counter-Strike in history. It is also difficult to pinpoint many top tier players coming from Great Britain. However, 2020 is looking good for the Brits as already two large scale events will take place in London. BLAST Premier Spring Series will pit three groups of four teams for a share of the $300,00 prize pool. These are not just any teams as well. Astralis, FaZe Clan, OG and many other top tier CSGO squads will be there. GG.Bet hosting another tournament in London is also great news. Given the reputation and population of the British Isles, Counter-Strike, as well as esports as a whole, will receive a lot of exposure.
