G2 keeps cool on Train, then wastes Tricked on Inferno

The best-of-three final got off to a hectic start. The French side got the early lead on the counter-terrorist side on Train, leading 10-5 at the half. After the half, things started to slowly fall apart as Tricked tightened their belts to bring it all the way to overtime. Stellar all-around team performance was key. It seemed like it was going to be a tough fight for G2 after all.

Fortunately for them, solid performances from Richard “shox” Papillon, Kenny “kennyS” Schrub, and Audric “JaCkz” Jug guaranteed the map as the French side got the four necessary rounds to close out the map at 19-15. This following action from shox especially shows just how impactful his plays were.

Unfortunately for Tricked, Inferno did not go their way whatsoever. Despite Lucas “Bubzkji” Andersen’s best efforts to at least bring it close, G2 closed Tricked out completely. G2 right off strung 9 rounds in a row on t-side, menacing Tricked and not letting them gain map control as the counter-terrorists. The half finished 11-4 for the French.

The ct-side saw G2 take four rounds with the pistol, making them need just one round to close the finale. Tricked responded with three rounds, but then it would be all she wrote as G2 grabbed the last round and closed the series 2-0 at a 16-11 scoreline.

G2 keeps on rolling

This team is picking up steam. Ever since an impressive performance at ESL Pro League Season 9 Finals where they were defeated by the reigning kings Team Liquid, G2 has been having solid performances. The French had recently won the ESL One New York Closed Qualifier in Europe and now have defeated Tricked at Good Game League. With such impressive performances and kennyS and shox both finding their form, who knows how far G2 can go? G2 has already made it to the top 10 in the global rankings; this result will definitely put the French even higher. One thing is for sure: It is good to see G2 finding its stride once more.
