As the favorites in Group C at the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational group stage, the League of Legends European Championship representatives didn’t disappoint as they walked through their competition and qualified for the Rumble stage without dropping a single game.

The team officially clinched their spot after their opening game victory against the League of Legends Championship Series representatives, Evil Geniuses.

The game was somewhat close, but the combination of Yasuo and Diana on the G2 side was just too much for EG to handle. EG made things interesting by closing the gold gap by winning a critical fight at Baron, but just minutes later, G2 jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski hit the go button on Diana and his superstar mid laner Rasmus “caPs” Winther followed up. EG disappeared, and so did their hopes of winning the game.

It took 39 minutes, but G2 took the win and improved to 5-0 while clinching their spot in the Rumble stage. Even with their spot locked up, G2 did not let off the gas.

The LEC squad won their remaining three games, and none of them were competitive. G2 dismantled ORDER, and while EG kept the gold close for the majority of their game, G2 remained in control throughout of a 35-minute victory.

G2’s eight straight wins at MSI 2022 are part of a bigger win streak for G2, who have been hot since a setback in the 2022 LEC spring playoffs. After dropping to the lower bracket, G2 pulled off 12 wins in a row to capture the LEC 2022 spring title.  Going into the Rumble stage on Friday, G2 are on a 20-game win streak.
