Help us improve UPL
Hey everyone, We want to make some improvements to Upcomer Prediction League (UPL). We’re aware of the issue of not being able to vote on some matches and people voting on tournaments that are hidden, we’re working on fixing it right now. What we had in mind was to only allow UPL voting on top tier events. Which would mean smaller tournaments would no longer be apart of UPL. However, this causes some potential issues, such as which tournaments do we include and not include. For example, should we include: NA Academy League, Overwatch Contenders, or smaller prize pool tournaments? Just to note, this is just an idea and we are not completely dead set on implementing it. What do you guys think and what ideas do you have?
Owl sacrificing competitive integrity
So with the release of the OWL 2020 schedule, one thing really jumps out at me. Why do 3 teams host 5 homesteads while all other teams only host 2 with the minimal exceptions of the ones who host 3? I feel like now that the league will be played with the idea of home and away games, that these should be much more spread out with no team hosting more than 3, and the teams that host 3 rotating every year. By giving these teams significantly more homestands it provides a massive advantage to them.
A look at the playoff and play-in bubble
Barring any major upsets to bubble teams the only things I see switching are London moving up to 5 and if Seoul beats Shanghai, AND Hangzhou lose to Shanghai then Seoul will jump to 6th, personally I find this likely. Other than that, Hunters looks safe due to 2 of the Valiants last 3 being against San Francisco and Gladiators, they also have Boston but that wont be enough unless Houston can upset Chengdu then Valiant would get the 12th spot most likely due to their superior map differential.
