The Fortnite World Cup 2019 begins April 13. The tournament consists of alternating solo and duo competitions every weekend for 10 weeks. The contest culminates in a LAN final on July 26-28 in New York City. The World Cup starts with solos on the opening weekend of April 13-14. The first duo competition begins on April 20-21.

All players in the Champion League are able to compete. Saturday narrows down the pool to the top 3,000, who advance to the next and final round on Sunday. After completion of Sunday’s competition, players will qualify for the World Cup Final. The number of players that qualify from each region is predetermined.

How to qualify for the World Cup

In order to compete in the Fortnite World Cup, players must first be tested in Arena mode. They climb the ranks and maintain 300 or more hype points. Those players who have 300+ hype points compete on Saturday. Each of the six regions participates on its own server, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. during their respective time zones. Players will be given a three-hour time period to compete. During this period, participants are allowed a maximum of 10 games. The players with the most points after the time period ends move on. Then 3,000 participants continue to the finals on Sunday. Points scored on Saturday do not carry over to Sunday.

The format for the finals is the same. Players are given the same 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. time frame. Matches are capped at 10 per player. The differences are cash prizes and the ability to qualify for the World Cup Final. Each weekend $1,000,000 will be distributed between Sunday’s top finishers. In addition, the top 19-21 players punch their ticket to the final: eight players from Europe (EU), six from North America – East (NAE), two from North America – West (NAW), zero to two from Asia, zero to two from Brazil, and zero to two from Oceania (OCE). In total, 99 solo players and 49 duo teams will qualify over the 10 weeks.
