Fortnite down? How to check the Server Status

Fortnite has remained one of the most popular video games on the market. With the recent release of Chapter 4, veterans and newcomers alike are hopping back to experience the classic battle royale and all of the new content Epic Games has put on offer. With such a new influx of players, though, the Fortnite servers will be put to the test. While it won’t happen often, Fortnite could end up going down, and players should know how to check if the servers are officially down or if they’re to blame themselves.

There are a number of ways to check and see if the Fortnite servers are down. Whether that be for scheduled maintenance, a pending update, or faulty servers, players can see exactly how to check their status below.

Check to see if Fortnite is down

First and foremost, you’ll want to check the official FortniteStatus Twitter page. This is where most of the game’s updates and server issues are tracked in real time. If there is scheduled maintenance, an update coming soon, or server issues, this Twitter page will likely have it documented.

If you don’t have access to Twitter or that account hasn’t tweeted anything recently, you can also check the website DownDetector. This website tracks dozens of games and the status of their servers. It does this by gathering player reports and seeing if there are enough reported server outages to determine if there are legitimate ongoing issues.

Checking @FortniteStatus and DownDetector are your two best ways to see if Fortnite is officially down or not. If both of those routes say that Fortnite’s servers are working as intended and you still can’t log in to the game, the problem likely lies on your end. Try restarting your game and your internet router to see if that makes any difference.
