Despite having fans all over the world she was never one who craved the spotlight.” Her boyfriend also shared some concise words about it on Twitter.
It is with great sadness that I inform you that my best friend Maria Creveling passed away peacefully in her sleep yesterday. Her absence will leave a void that can never be filled.

My girlfriend Maria died last night, she wouldn't want any lengthy public statement, so all I'll say is the 4 months I knew her were the best of both our lives and although she deserved so much more, it was a privilege to know her for the short time I did. RIP Maria, I love you.

Historic player in the pro scene
Remilia was known as a great influence and inspiration to many people around the world. She began her career in 2013 in the professional League of Legends scene, playing support for Curse Academy and continuing on to compete in the NA Challenger Series. Eventually, she left Curse Academy and joined No Big Deal for the Play-Ins for NACS Spring Series 1. After leaving and joining several challenger teams between 2014 and 2015, she joined NA team Misfits. This team was later rebranded Renegades, which won in the NA LCS 2015 Summer Playoffs.
In addition, Remilia made history by being the first transgender player to qualify and compete in the League of Legends Championship Series. She became a role model to plenty of fans and players, many of whom identified as female. Unfortunately, she left the pro scene stating that she experienced harassment regarding her own body post-gender reassignment surgery. In Mid-November of this year, she expressed how thankful she was to have a supportive fan base.

After some time, Remilia returned to compete with Latin American team Kaos Latin Gamers. She became a backup player for NA LCS team FlyQuest. Most recently she had been an extremely popular streamer on Twitch. Remilia was seen competing in high ranked tournaments and games. However, throughout the past week, Remilia had expressed her discontent with the holiday season. She publicly stated her fears and how stressful she had recently been. Of course, these tweets worried her followers. With plenty of concern, they shared prayers and words of comfort under each tweet she published.
