Former Invictus Gaming ADC JackeyLove joins Top Esports

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

LPL team Top Esports (TES) has signed former League of Legends world champion Yu “JackeyLove” Wen-Bo as their starting ADC. The 19-year-old left Invictus Gaming at the end of the 2019 season and was teamless going into 2020. However, TES decided to make the mid split change, making them even more of a playoff threat. They currently sit at fourth in the standings, only two wins behind the first-placed eStar.

JackeyLove, the Chinese boy wonder

JackeyLove came onto the League of Legends competitive scene back in 2016, when he was just 16 years old. He played his first competitive games at NEST 2016, where he served as Invictus Gaming’s starting ADC. iG only lost a single game the entire tournament, taking home the victory with their young prodigy. Jackey became iG’s LPL starting ADC in the 2018 Spring split. They finished first in the regular season but had an unimpressive playoff performance that put them at fourth.

However, they finished second in the Summer split playoffs, booking themselves a ticket to the World Championship. It was an impressive feat for an 18-year-old player who had just played through his first full competitive season. And, as you might know, it didn’t stop there. iG dominated the World Championship, smashing Europe’s Fnatic in the finals after three quick games. Thus, JackeyLove became a League of Legends world champion at just 18 years of age.

Adding to an already impressive TES roster

With the addition of JackeyLove, TES is adding another talented player to their star-studded roster. With LMS legend Hung “Karsa” Hao-Hsuan in the jungle and another 19-year-old talent in Zhuo “knight” Ding at the mid position, this team surely has a great future ahead of them. They already made a statement in 2019 LPL Summer, when they finished third in the playoffs and nearly missed out on Worlds after losing in an intense five-game series against iG. Funnily enough, JackeyLove was crowned Regional Finals MVP after dominating the series against TES. Maybe this year, he can do the same to his former team?
