Fnatic recently found a replacement for Martin “Rekkles” Larsson, and their decision has gotten some mixed up reviews from fans. Elias “Upset” Lipp from Astralis doesn’t have quite the same achievements as Rekkles, and the team knew he would have large shoes to fill. Regardless, joining Fnatic may allow Upset to showcase newfound skills with a top-tier team for 2021.
Unfortunately for Fnatic, Rekkles left to join their rivals G2 Esports on November 20. Fnatic has already changed their roster up for the upcoming season, and losing their best member leaves an uncertain future ahead. The team will reportedly sign Astralis’ Upset, which left Fnatic fans feeling uneasy about Rekkles’ replacement.

Fnatic reportedly signs Upset
Upset has been with Astralis, formerly Origen, since November 2019. Before then, he had jumped between G2 Esports, FC Shalke 04, and Giants Gaming. Origen found themselves in third place For the 2020 Spring Split, then in tenth place for the Summer split. Throughout his time with the team, Upset was not able to win any championships. The last time he reached first place was with FC Shalke 04 for the EUCS 2017 Spring with a 100% win rate. Joining Fnatic may push the 20-year old ADC to try his best. Come 2021, Fnatic will pair him with their long-time support player Zdravets “Hylissang” Iliev Galabov.
Some Twitter users suggested that Fnatic pick up SK Gaming’s previous bot laner Juš “Crownshot” Marušič. Unfortunately, Crownshot recently revealed that he’s not playing in the LEC or LCS for the next split. While some Fnatic fans criticized the team’s decision to bring on Upset, others defended him, stating he has plenty to prove in the coming season.
