Evil Geniuses adds more young talent tot their LCS roster

Jojopyun promoted to Evil Geniuses LCS roster

Evil Geniuses came out last year with a stacked roster in order to compete in the LCS, including he likes of Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen and previous Vitality midlaner Daniele “Jiizuke” Di Mauro. The team ended in 5-6th place in both Spring and Summer split in 2021. In the midst of the Summer split, Evil Geniuses swapped in Kyle “Danny” Sakamaki from their Evil Geniuses Prodigies lineup, a team meant to perform in the amateur scene and had a fantastic performance in the LCS Summer Split playoffs a few months beforehand. With the promotion of Jojopyun to the LCS roster, it seems that Evil Geniuses believes in growing and promoting young players up to their main roster.

Jojopyun is one of the most promising midlaners coming out of North America. Touted as a mechanical talent, he is one of the best laners in the academy scene with one of the best mid-lane gold and experience differentials. During his time with the Evil Geniuses Academy, they finished 4th in the LCS Proving Grounds Spring 2021, and 5-6th in the Summer Academy League, losing five games to the Cloud9 Academy team. As Jiizuke leaves Evil Geniuses, the team will move forward with a younger roster for the next season.

While the Evil Geniuses LCS roster ended at 5th-6th last year, Danny’s growth over the playoffs gives the team a lot of hope for the future. While it was rumored that a lot of teams had offered a buyout Evil Geniuses for the young talent, it seems that they will be taking advantage of their homegrown talent for the time being.
