The teams taking part will be from four regional qualifier events for Europe, North America, China and South East Asia. As usual, the top eight rosters competing in their regions will also receive invites to the event. The news was announced via the ESL Dota 2’s Twitter page, leaving fans with a feeling of excitement.

Bigger and better in Birmingham

The return of Birmingham comes with its fair share of high expectations, as the year before it smashed viewership records. With 24,000 live attendees and a peak of over 306,000 online viewers, 2019’s Birmingham event had the best viewership of any ESL One Dota 2 event to date. Despite having a high bar to surpass, ESL UK CEO James Dean is hyping the 2020 event up to be even more exciting.

We’re extremely proud of what ESL One Birmingham means to the Dota 2 community. With the support of players, partners and fans, Birmingham is a truly unique tournament and atmosphere which will no doubt deliver yet more unforgettable moments again this year. We’re hugely thankful to each and everyone involved and would like to show our gratitude not only by providing a world-class final at the highest production level, but also by bringing even more excitement, features, and catchy chants to the Birmingham Arena.

Regarding the ESL Academy, four of the top European and North American amateur teams will compete in group stages. The reward for this is the opportunity to achieve a spot in the grand finals on the main stage. The prize pool for the ESL Academy will be a share of $240,000.

To experience this event first-hand, tickets for the event will be available as of January 23. Further information is provided on the ESL One website regarding the event and ticket prices.
