Dota fans will now have the event that they have always dreamed of, taking place in Stockholm, Sweden. The Stockholm Dota Major, hosted by ESL, will take place from May 20-22. It will be the first large-scale Dota event hosted with a crowd since ESL Los Angeles was canceled in 2020.

The irony of it all is that the next Dota major will take place in Stockholm, Sweden, the location that The International 10 was first planned to happen before being moved to another location. Due to issues with the Swedish government, esports players were not officially recognized as athletes and would not be able to enter the country on an athlete’s visa. Forcing the event to continue while having to ensure tourist visas would have been a difficult task and Valve was forced to move the event to Bucharest, Romania instead.

The Stockholm Dota Major will happen after the second tour of the DPC. Just like previous majors, a set number of teams will qualify for the event, with teams starting at different parts of the event. Based on where a team places in the second tour of DPC, they will be placed in either the Wild Card, group stage or the playoff bracket.

Tickets for the ESL One Stockholm Dota Major will go live on at 11 a.m. ET on Thursday. The prices will start from $32.

ESL has informed fans that there will be three available streams during the playoffs that will have simultaneous groups stage matches. The playoffs will occur on a single stream.
