The long-lasting partnership between Ninjas in Pyjamas and Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg has come to an end. After a seven and a half year relationship, f0rest has left the Swedish organization — with Tim “nawwk” Jonasson joining NiP in his place.
Finding a new home
According to NiP’s official statement, f0rest has decided to pursue his Counter-Strike: Global Offensive career elsewhere. However, the organization is excited to see him further himself at a new home.
Jonas Gundersen, COO of NiP, commented today in their announcement:
Patrik is a true icon of the game with a long list of accolades sand has been instrumental in the legacy and brand for many years. That is something that we respect immensely and will never forget. After having been with the same team for so long and achieved so much, it’s a natural thing to want a change of scenery. We have of course chosen to honor that request and wish him the very best of luck on his next adventure.
At the same time, it opens up an incredibly exciting opportunity to rethink the way we approach and execute our competitive structure and make long term decisions. Talent is peaking at a younger and younger age for us to be able to invent in sustainable infrastructure and support around a lineup is absolutely fantastic. I couldn’t be more excited for 2020 and the years to come.
F0rest will reunite with three of his former teammates Adam”friberg” Friberg, Richard “Xizt” Landström, and Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund on Dignitas. Additionally, Håkon “hallzerk” Fjærli is joining the freshly unveiled squad.
Leaving a legacy with NiP
F0rest was the last standing member of the famed original NiP roster, a team that dominated early CSGO and had an astounding 87-0 run between 2012 and 2013.
During his time with NiP, f0rest competed in 12 majors, including five major finals. Furthermore, he earned one major championship at ESL Cologne 2014. F0rest has 64 tournament wins under NiP and has been named MVP eight times.
Big shoes to fill
Entrusted to take the place of f0rest on NiP, nawwk is a promising player. Moreover, he is excited to take on the challenge and to pave his legacy with NiP. Nawwk states:
Joining NiP is an amazing feeling. It has been a dream ever since I started playing CSGO and to be honest, it still feels quite unreal. I’ll be playing as a hybrid/second AWP-er and although that’s a new challenge for me, I’m ready to put in the hard work and show what I’m capable of. With this line-up, I see great things happening in the near future.
As f0rest’s NiP era ends, the organization welcomes its new starting line-up:
