Doublelift may re-join TSM for Summer Split

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Team Liquid’s current ADC Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng may be re-joining TSM for the Summer Split. According to ESPN sources, Doublelift chose to return to TSM over other offers he’s received. This would be the first time he returns to the team since leaving in 2017. Since his contract has recently been up for trade by Team Liquid, this may be his chance to adjust his focus after his internal problems became public.

The seven-time LCS champion may be returning to TSM after Team Liquid came in ninth place for the LCS Spring Split. Unfortunately, his time with TL has been pretty rocky. At one point, the team replaced him with Edward “Tactical” Ra due to his lack of motivation among other things.

At TSM, Doublelift would be joining his previous support Vincent “Biofrost” Wang and star mid laner Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg. He was previously on loan from TSM to TL in 2017, switching back and forth between teams until he ultimately decided to stay with TL.

Replacing Kobbe

If speculation is true, Doublelift will replace TSM’s current ADC, Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup. Kobbe had been with TSM for a short time, from November 2019 until now. TSM had recently picked him up from European team Splyce. It’s unclear whether he would go back to his home country of Denmark or join another EU League of Legends team, as the COVID-19 pandemic has made traveling across countries almost impossible.

Doublelift’s previous history with TSM involved victories for the 2016 and 2017 LCS Summer Splits until he moved on to TL. After TSM’s participation in the 2017 World Championship, the organization decided not to renew Doublelift’s contract, along with those of his other teammates Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen and Vincent “Biofrost” Wang. Afterward, he contributed to Team Liquid’s four consecutive victories for both LCS Summer and Spring.
