Earlier today, Valve finally released the Dota 2 The International Battle Pass to its in-game store. As per usual, 25% of Battle Pass sales revenue will go to TI’s prize pool. Last year, this amassed an additional $33 million USD for the pool. While last year’s Battle Pass earned nearly $8 million in two days, this year’s prize pool will most likely be even larger.

In its first twelve hours, Valve has already sold around $20 million worth of Battle Passes. That means $5 million USD has already been added to the initial TI prize pool.

What does the Dota 2 Battle Pass contain?

Every year, Valve gives players the option of purchasing different tiers of Battle Passes, each with its own price point. The Level 1 Bundle, starting at $9.99, includes all the essential loot and features. The Level 50 and Level 100 bundles, at $29.35 and $44.99 respectively, are aimed more towards players that put a lot of time into the game. They offer much more prestige and epic loot but also require a lot more grinding.

The main new feature of this year’s Battle Pass is Guilds. A guild is essentially a group of players that can complete weekly group missions. Each guild also has its own leveling system (called Guild Points) that every player in the guild contributes to. And the best part is, upon reaching certain level checkpoints, all players in the guild get the rewards. Apart from that, a Guild offers its members daily quests (called Daily Contracts), different challenges, and an integrated Steam Guild chat.

Additionally, the Battle Pass will feature a new event coming in summer. As of the time of writing, Valve hasn’t released any additional details about the event. We only know that it will feature a four-player maze mode and will be open for all players, not just those who purchased a pass. There are also a ton of returning features from previous passes, such as MVP, the interactive versus screen, wagering, and more.
