DignitasVIE announced Friday that they have hired Faruk “pita” Pita as head coach for their Counter-Strike: Global Offensive squad.

The move to DignitasVIE reunites pita with Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg and Adam “friberg” Friberg, whom he coached in 2014 on Ninjas in Pyjamas, when NiP earned an ESL One: Cologne Major title. Furthermore, pita also worked with Jonas “Lekr0” Olofsson during his second instance coaching for NiP.

Before joining DignitasVIE, pita was coaching the Copenhagen Flames after being released from NiP in 2020. The 30-year-old coach had received a 10-month ban from the Esports Integrity Commission in September 2020 after exploiting a coaching bug while on NiP. Additionally, Valve levied a three-Major ban in January 2021 for using the bug.

A new journey

When the “coaching-feature bug” scandal was revealed, pita admitted to using the bug in 2018. He apologized for acting “irrational” and hoped the community could “forgive [him] one day.”

Despite pita’s rocky past, he has continued to work to rebuild his reputation. Since joining Copenhagen Flames, pita’s coaching helped the team achieve great heights. After qualifying for the PGL Stockholm 2021 Major, the Flames secured wins against Astralis, BIG, Heroic, Evil Geniuses, and FaZe during the New Challengers and New Legends phases of the event.

DignitasVIE said the organization has high hopes for pita and the team. The organization tweeted, “we strive to make history once again.”

After Dignitas released their announcement, the Copenhagen Flames followed up with a heartfelt goodbye. The organization said pita “had an enormous impact on our CS:GO team’s performance.”

“Thank you, Faruk, for your hard work and dedication,” the team said in a tweet, along with a hopeful “good luck” with the new roster.

pita’s move hints at CPH Flames move

CPH Flames’ impressive performance at the PGL Stockholm Major has skyrocketed interest in the team. Rumors floated throughout the community as to which major organization would snatch the roster up. Dexerto previously reported the Danish organization is open to offers in the price range of $500,000-$750,000.

For many, pita’s move to Dignitas indicates a buyout of the CPH roster could be in the works. Time will only tell what the future holds for pita’s former and new team.
