Danish Counter-Strike player, Jakob “JUGi” Hansen, announced via Twitter on Friday that he is leaving Counter Strike: Global Offensive and looking for opportunities in VALORANT, the tactical shooter released by Riot Games in 2020.
“What a journey CS:GO has given me, friendships, travel experiences and a lot more,” the Dane said in his tweet. “I’m happy I got the chance to attend to the Major twice. But it’s time to print my name in another game somehow!”

JUGi’s leaves CSGO for VALORANT
JUGi started playing CS:GO in 2015. He has attended two Majors and wracked up an estimated total of $117,439 in earnings throughout his career. The 24-year-old AWPer played for teams such as Heroic, North and OpTic Gaming. After filling in on Astralis for Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth and Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander – who were on leave for a short time in the middle of 2020 – JUGi was without a team for over a year.
Most recently, JUGi was part of Mathias “MSL” Lauridsen and Philip “aizy” Aistrup’s Danish project team, South. The team flopped and disbanded in Sept. 2021, just months after forming. Since that time, JUGi has been inactive.
JUGi tweeted that he was open to offers around the globe, possibly opening the door for a move to another region outside of Europe. This is not the first time that the Dane has tested the VALORANT waters. He had been trialing with Team Liquid’s VALORANT team in Jan. 2021 before his stint on South, according to TalkEsport.
JUGi is part of a growing exodus of CS:GO players leaving the game in favor of VALORANT, joining the likes of Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen, Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom, Oscar “mixwell” Cañellas Colocho and many others. Although the migration has been harder on the North American side of CS:GO, JUGi could be just the first European name to make the jump.
