OpTic Gaming has won the GG.BET New York Invitational after defeating forZe in a best-of-three, winning 2-1. The Danish team has rounded out the final participants of ESL One New York.
OpTic Gaming was utilizing former player René “cajunb” Borg as a stand-in for rifler Ismail “refrezh” Ali.
The Danish team began its run in the qualifier with a tough victory against Bulgarian team Bpro. The best-of-one on Overpass did eventually go in OpTic’s favor, with the team winning 19-17 in Overtime.
OpTic would face another tough opponent in Winstrike. The best-of-three was close, but OpTic managed to secure a 2-0 victory, winning the first map, Train, 16-13 and the second map, Vertigo, 16-12.

Moving forward, arguably one of the toughest challenges for OpTic was upon arrival with the Danish team facing BIG. However, OpTic Gaming outclassed BIG on the first map, Vertigo, winning 16-8. The second map was a different story, with the German team bouncing back and taking the map to Overtime. However, OpTic Gaming clutched up and won Dust2 19-15.
Finally, the team would face forZe in the final. The first two maps was back and forth, OpTic lost the first map, Nuke, 19-16. The second map was Mirage, which prior, forZe had an 11-map win streak on. However, OpTic bested forZe and won the map 16-13. The final map, Overpass, was a blow-out. OpTic crushed forZe 16-3 to take the map and series 2-1.
ESL One New York is set to be another high-tier event, with some of the best in the world in attendance including Liquid and Astralis. ESL One New York is from September 26-29. The final eight participants competing for $200,000 prize pool are:
