BIG coach kakafu officially departs, TowB may replace him

The Austrian coach is open to international offers.

On August 4, BIG coach Alexander “kakafu” Szymanczyk officially departed the roster. The move comes after the removal of in-game leader Fatih “gob b” Dayik and rifler Denis “denis” Howell for AWPer Owen “smooya” Butterfield and Johannes “nex” Maget.


In a statement on Twitter, the Austrian coach has said that he is open to international offers. Moreover, the veteran seeks seeks a new challenge and could consider a new staff position. 



As a replacement, Dexerto journalist Dekay stated that there are ongoing discussions between Sprout and BIG regarding the transfer of Sprout’s head-coach Tobias "TowB" Herbedhold to the German organization. Dekay mentioned that this is the replacement BIG currently have planned for kakafu. As he has now departed, this roster move could be completed soon if the two come to an agreement.

Kakafu has been a part of the organization since February 2017, one month after gob b, Nikola "LEGIJA" Ninić, and Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz formed the new squad. Therefore, he has been involved in the vast majority of good results such as the historic run at ESL One Cologne 2018, where the team placed second, beating some of the best teams in the world at the time like FaZe and MIBR. 


If the rumored roster move is correct, the new BIG roster is expected to be: 

  • Owen "smooya" Butterfield
  • Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz
  • Tizian "tiziaN" Feldbusch
  • Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş
  • Johannes "nex" Maget (injured)


  • Tobias “TowB” Herbedhold (coach) 


  • Nikola "LEGIJA" Ninić (stand-in)
  • Denis "denis" Howell (benched)
