North American organization Team Liquid has beaten the Astralis record of 17 match wins on LAN in a row. Team Liquid is currently on an 18 match win streak, beating Astralis by one match.

This record was achieved after Team Liquid went flawless at the recent BLAST Pro Series Los Angeles, winning every game without losing a single map. This alone takes Team Liquid’s tally to seven match wins in a row. Then, Team Liquid did not lose a single game at ESL One Cologne, adding another five. Furthermore, the team won six games at ESL Pro League Season 9 finals, thus taking Team Liquid’s tally to 18. The streak began after the side lost to North in the ESL One Pro League Season 9 finals opener.

This streak took Team Liquid just under a month, from June 20-July 15. By contrast, Astralis achieved its 17 match win streak from November 24 2018-January 21 2019.

Astralis’ streak began after a defeat to Made in Brazil at the ECS Season 6 Finals. However, Astralis then won another three games at the tournament. Moreover, Astralis won another five matches at ESL Pro League Season 8 Finals 2019. Astralis won six at the BLAST Pro Series Lisbon 2018 and then another three at the iBUYPOWER Masters 2019.

Astralis’ streak was ended on January 21 2019 after the team lost to Team Liquid at the iBUYPOWER Masters 2019.

Team Liquid also recently beat another Astralis record. The North American side won the Intel Grand Slam Season 2 in just sixty three days, which was a quarter of the time it took Astralis to win Season 1.

Team Liquid will be participating in the upcoming IEM Chicago from July 18-21. By contrast, Astralis will not be participating in an event until the StarLadder Major from August 28-September 8.
