UPDATE: After this story was initially published, Coldzera announced he is leaving MIBR. In a statement released on Twitter, he explained his desire to leave the team stretched back to 2018. He will now return to Europe to train for his next opportunity after a short vacation. He noted that since his buyout is expensive, he is unlikely to sign with a team any time soon.

The original story continues below:

Brazilian organization Made in Brazil (MIBR) has officially benched Marcelo "coldzera" David, effective immediately. As a result, he will not play with MIBR at the upcoming BLAST Pro Series Los Angeles and IEM Chicago.

This follows a week of speculation about coldzera's desire to leave the team that started when he asked to be benched following a disappointing showing at ESL One Cologne 2019. Coach Wilton "zews" Prado will fill in for coldzera at the team's upcoming events. However, the organization is undecided about its options for the Starladder Major from August 28-September 8.

In zews’ statement, he said coldzera expressed his interest to be transferred after MIBR’s last place finish at ESL One Cologne 2019. A report from HLTV.org claimed coldzera would play at the two upcoming events, except from the major. Zews confirmed this, but MIBR has decided that benching coldzera immediately would be the best option going forward.

“He offered us the option of playing out the remainder of the season as well as the next Major," Zews said about the decision. "We have come to the conclusion that the moment we need to live is one of rebuilding for the future and the earlier we start, the better. Not only for our starting lineup but for our team culture. Management, coach and players need to all be aligned in order for us to well represent not only MIBR, but everything and everyone that entails in its legacy.”

Although coldzera’s future is uncertain, he has been linked with moves to FaZe Clan after a report from OverDrive surfaced . Moreover, FaZe Clan player Nikola "NiKo" Kovač commented on coldzera’s recent instagram post with “‘FaZeUp”. The comments have since been deleted.
