ESL have announced the groups for the ESL Pro League Season 9 finals, set to take place from June 18 to 23 in Montpellier, France, with $600,000 on the line.

The teams are split into two groups of eight and will battle in a double elimination format for a chance to advance to the playoffs. The opening matches of the groups will begin with best-of-ones, followed by best-of-three matches for the remainder of the event.

Six teams will be able to advance to the playoffs, with the first placed teams advancing straight to the semi-finals, while the second and third placed teams will move on to the quarter-finals.

Group A features a clear favorite in Astralis. The Danes’ only real challenge will be NRG and Fnatic, two teams who have not been much of a threat for them. The remainder of the group is a lot closer, however, with Fnatic, NRG, G2, and Heroic all having a good chance to take the remaining playoff spots.

Meanwhile, group B is set to be a lot more competitive, as FaZe and Liquid are likely to have a close battle for first place. The other two playoff spots are also hard to predict, as all of the remaining teams have shown they have what it takes to compete with the rest.
