The newest update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive brings some alterations to three maps in the active duty lineup. The most interesting changes come to Mirage, as some gameplay aspects shift around the map’s mid area. Meanwhile, Train and Dust2 receive some skybox openings along with a new wallbang spot.
Mirage gets a bench
While sounding trivial, a bench can make all the difference in CSGO. The major update to the active duty map sees a bench added between mid window and connector entrance from mid. This allows for a self-boost into window, as well as a chance to peek into catwalk (or short, as some call it). The bench replaces another teammate and provides more opportunities for solo gameplay when sneaking around the map’s mid area.
Another minor improvement that was added involves an extension to top of mid. This allows the terrorists to peek into connector as well as denying the counter-terrorists the ability to take mid-control via smokes right off the bat (popularized by Astralis).
Additionally, terrorists will now be able to clear a close scaffolding spot from inside of palace, making sure that there aren’t any counter terrorists lurking with an SMG when just exiting the palace.

These changes all seem to favor the terrorist side. Despite being modest changes except the bench, they allow for more options and better viewing angles for the bomb-planters.
Dust2 and Train receive new open skybox areas
Dust2 has finally received an open skybox in B-halls before B-site. Taking control of B-site was a difficult task as no smokes could be thrown from B halls, usually leading to a “rush B” approach to be favored, especially by amateurs. Now smokes can be thrown to close out the site and allow for a more strategic approach by the terrorists.
Train also received an open skybox area. The skybox over the building separating Ivy and A site has been opened up. This could potentially be exploited by the terrorist side. Strategic smokes could be potentially thrown from Ivy on the terrorist side to the site, either to confuse the enemy or allow for a strategic approach for teammates coming out of main or pop dog.
