CSGO devs tease a new-old knife returning from the days of CS 1.6

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Thanks to an uncountable amount of cases found in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the CSGO knives have become the most elusive items in the game, alongside gloves. With so many different types and skin patterns, it would be difficult for most to list all the knives off the top of their heads. Soon, though, that list might grow just a tiny bit longer. And it may bring us back to CS 1.6.

The official CSGO Twitter has posted a short clip which showcases a terrorist character pulling out a knife that Counter-Strike veterans are all familiar with: the knife from CS 1.6. Some people have been asking the devs about bringing this knife model back into CSGO as an additional skin. From the look of things, this may very well be what the developers are planning.

The 20-second clip was tagged with “#TBT,” which means “throwback to.” Whatever the devs’ plan behind showcasing this knife was, the community comments speak for themselves.

Most of the community is excited and hoping that the knife will somehow be attainable in the game by regular players. We’ve had an old Dust2 brought back into the game for a while now, so maybe it is time for the old knife to make its return. Perhaps yet another case is on the horizon. Or, better yet, we might finally get that brand new operation that many have been waiting for.

For now, though, we have not received any definitive information on the knife making the cut into Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Given the devs’ nature of liking to tease the community, we should find out something more soon enough.
