Could Call of Duty: Warzone become the most-streamed battle royale?

In its first week, Call of Duty: Warzone has seen unprecedented success. The game accumulated more than 15 million players following its launch, which doesn’t even include every download. Players everywhere are flocking to the battle royale thanks to its fun gameplay and innovative features. These players include streamers, as Warzone has been the top game across every streaming site. From Twitch to YouTube to Mixer, it seems like everyone is streaming Warzone for hours on end. While it’s still new, this popularity brings up some intriguing questions.

Can Warzone surpass Fortnite on streaming websites?

For the longest time, Fortnite has dominated the battle royale genre on streaming sites, namely Twitch and YouTube. Dozens of content creators gained fame and notoriety from simply streaming Fortnite back in 2018 when it was at its peak.

However, those same streamers have recently been making the switch to Warzone. Big names such as Nick “Nickmercs” Kolcheff and Guy “DrDisrespect” Beahm spend entire days streaming Warzone. Thus far, it appears that streamers are just as addicted to the game as the community.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that current Warzone streamers will only broadcast that battle royale. Though, it does raise some questions about the other titles like Fortnite. With Warzone being so great out of the gate, could we see a shift in the tides? Nickmercs seems to think so.

Nick isn’t the only one who feels this way, as multiple Fortnite streamers have struggled with playing anything else besides Warzone. We’ve seen this before, however, like with the release of Apex Legends one year ago. The game was solid at launch, drew large numbers of viewers, but slowly subsided thanks to Fortnite.

Will Warzone be different? Could we see another battle royale finally overtake Fortnite on Twitch, YouTube, and other platforms? That remains to be seen, but so far, things look good for the new battle royale.
