North American esports organization Complexity Gaming announced it will be releasing its entire Dota 2 roster. This news comes one day after the end of 2019’s The International event, where OG beat Team Liquid.

Complexity Gaming Dota 2 roster
Complexity was founded by Jason “1” Lake in 2003 and got its start in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The organization acquired a relatively unknown team named FIRE in 2011. It then signed a former Heroes of Newerth team in 2014. This led to the team breezing through the Americas Qualifiers and achieving a 9 – 12th finish at The International 2015.
The organization also placed 5 – 6 at 2016’s The Shanghai Major, 9 – 12 at 2016’s The Manila Major, and 9 – 16 at 2016’s The Boston Major. Afterward, the team still failed to find much success, with only occasional placements at ESL events and a 9 – 12 placing at the MDL Disneyland Paris Major. The organization ended up not making it through the North American The International 2019 Qualifiers, losing to teams like Forward Gaming, J Storm, beastcoast, and more. Just one day after TI9 finished, Complexity Gaming released its roster to look for new, fresh talent.
The organization saw many replacements on a trial basis during the 2019 year. Jaron “monkeys-forever” Clinton replaced Yang “Deth” Wu Heng; less than a month later, Otávio “Tavo” Gabriel Cerqueira Silva replaced Clinton. The 2017 and 2018 seasons also saw frequent roster changes with trial players and stand-ins. With players not having much time to familiarize themselves with the roster, it wasn’t surprising to see lackluster results.

The organization thanked long-time player Zakari “Zfreek” Freedman for his time with the team. Zfreek joined as a part of the 2014 former Heroes of Newerth roster acquisition.
Roster changes in organizations that do not perform well after The International event are not uncommon. Official and rumored changes to organizations and players can be found on the Dota 2 subreddit, with sources attached to each change.
This news of Complexity Gaming’s roster release follows news about the same organization’s Counter-Strike team.
