While the North American esports organization Clutch Gaming hasn’t specifically announced the change, recent updates point toward it. Former Clutch Gaming Academy AD carry Cody “Cody Sun” Sun will join the main roster lineup during the 2019 LCS Summer Split. During the 2019 LCS Spring Split, Chae “Piglet” Gwang-Jin held the role of AD carry. However, after a previous lackluster performance last split, this change looks promising.

In an interview with Travis Gafford with Tanner “Damonte” Damonte, the mid laner confirmed that Cody Sun would be starting for the lineup. He also mentioned that scrimmages had been going very well with the player.
The 2019 LCS Summer Split schedule that was released on the organization’s Twitter featured Cody Sun in the back row instead of Piglet as well. Furthermore, a series of tweets about Cody Sun was then retweeted by the Clutch Gaming Twitter, possibly hinting at his new role. No official announcement has been made yet about Cody Sun or Piglet though.

Clutch Gaming appeared to be a powerhouse team with the addition of former SK Telecom T1 player Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon. Mid laner Chae “Piglet” Gwang-jin, former Echo Fox mid laner Tanner “Damonte” Damonte, and former Academy support Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme also newly joined Nam “Lira” Tae-yoo on the main lineup.
Unfortunately having Piglet and Vulcan in the bot lane did not prove to be successful. Piglet achieved great results on Team Liquid, SKT, and SKT T1 K in the past. However, during and since the NA LCS 2016 season, he has not accomplished the same magnitude of play. This was also Vulcan’s first transition to the LCS after playing on CLG as a substitute and Clutch Gaming’s own Academy team.
Ultimately, Clutch Gaming ended the Spring Split in 9th place with a 5-win and 13-loss record. Piglet also ended the Split with the lowest kill/death ratio when compared to every other ADC. After departing 100 Thieves, Cody Sun went to Clutch Gaming’s Academy team. With his previous experience on Immortals and 100 Thieves, he may have been a better choice for the bot lane.
2019 LCS Summer Split
Clutch Gaming will have their first match during the 2019 LCS Summer Split on June 1. They will play against OpTic Gaming. Their current roster consists of top laner Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon, jungler Nam “Lira” Tae-yoo, bot laner Cody “Cody Sun” Sun, mid laner Tanner “Damonte” Damonte, and support Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme.
