A glitch in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is preventing MKII versions of DLC weapons from leveling up, despite Treyarch’s decision to push an update yesterday containing several weapon changes.
The glitch took effect in the Days of Summer patch earlier this month, affecting weapons such as the Switchblade X9 MKII, the Daemon 3XB MKII, and the Rampage MKII. These weapons are unable to gain XP, and thus remain stuck at level one, without the ability to gain new camouflages.
It’s unlikely that this glitch will alter the experiences of high-level players, as only newbies—or those who don’t have the base versions of the impacted weapons—are able to experience the issue. Still, it’s been well over a week since reports of the problem first surfaced, and Activision has not yet resolved the issue.
“This is a known issue and it’s being worked on,” Activision Ambassador Chris “virusman61” Jousif wrote on June 5. But over a week later, Treyarch’s official post regarding the June 14 changes simply gestured towards a future resolution. “We’re investigating a fix for an upcoming update,” wrote a Treyarch representative.
With Treyarch dragging their feet on the issue, yesterday's update left many Call of Duty fans with a bitter taste in their mouths. “It’s actually disgusting that they still haven’t fixed it,” wrote one Reddit user. “Really takes away any desire to play the game.”
