Luminosity have struggled to achieve strong tournament results following their victory at the Call of Duty World League Fort Worth event in March. Disappointingly, the team tied for seventh at CWL London earlier this month, getting shut out of their pool before losing to Team Envy in the bracket stage.
“After our tournament win at CWL Fort Worth the team atmosphere has slowly deteriorated,” wrote Luminosity founder Steve “Buyaka” Maida. “Despite our attempts to rectify the situation, we’ve reached a point where a change is necessary.”
It’s an unfortunate turn of events for Gunless, who previously distinguished himself playing for organizations such as eUnited and Rise Nation before signing with Luminosity last October. On the other hand, Ricky hasn’t been an active player since January, when he briefly joined the Pittsburgh Knights during their unsuccessful attempt to qualify for the CWL Pro League. However, Ricky’s long resume as a Call of Duty pro should help him shake off the rust as he attempts to turn around Luminosity’s fortunes—this time as a player.
