Today marks the coming of a new update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Over the last few weeks, the popular first-person shooter has been dogged by criticism surrounding its controversial loot box system, but Black Ops 4’s March update contains no changes to the game’s micro-transactions. Instead, it brings new features, new and updated game modes, and an intriguing holiday event.

The most notable gameplay change bundled with this patch is the addition of Stockpile to the list of multiplayer game modes on Playstation 4. Formerly known as Fracture in Black Ops 3, this new game mode requires participants to collect items and deposit them in a dedicated location in order to rack up points.

The game’s Blackout battle royale mode will also be receiving an aesthetic update in order to reflect the real-world end of winter and beginning of spring. Finally, Host Migration is coming to Zombies mode, so the game will no longer be held hostage to the whims of its original host.

Fun Fact: This is the 26th official Black Ops 4 update since the game’s launch weekend update on October 13, 2018.

Another PS4-exclusive update is a St. Patrick’s Day event called “Shamrock & Awe.” Other than the name, though, Treyarch Studios has revealed no new information about the event, so interested players will have to wait for the official release of the patch later today to figure out exactly what it entails.
