After several upsets involving TSM, FaZe Clan and Sentinels, the final eight teams have been chosen to move onto the closed qualifier. 100 Thieves, Envy, Immortals, XSET and Built By Gamers have qualified alongside Cloud9, Andbox and Version1.

Both of the Masters finalists have been eliminated from the closed qualifier tournament. As a result, they will have to repeat the next open to qualify. TSM was defeated by Immortals after adding Braxton “Brax” Pierce as the sixth man to their starting lineup. Immortals were able to decisively overthrow the tenth best team in North America 13-1 on Haven and 13-6 on Bind. Similarly, Built By Gamers won 2-0 over the NA Masters Champions after 13-5 on Ascent and Haven.

NRG Esports and Gen.G miss out on Stage 2 closed qualifier

NRG Esports and Gen.G joined FaZe Clan and Sentinels on the list of teams that are missing the closed qualifier. All four teams made it to the VCT Masters event a few weeks ago with FaZe Clan and Senintels competing for the title. Sentinels pulled ahead of FaZe Clan and were crowned the Stage 1 Masters Champions.

Cloud9 Blue defeated Gen.G 2-0. This loss, along with losing to T1, made Gen.G miss out on their chances of Masters. Gen.G had defeated XSET, 100 Thieves and Envy to make it to the Lower Bracket Final. As it so happens, FaZe Clan defeated them in the Lower Bracket before they were able to make it to the finals.

NRG Esports, who had defeated 100 Thieves at Masters, was defeated by XSET. XSET was one of the first few teams to advance to the NA Masters event. However, after a loss to FaZe Clan and Gen.G, they were knocked out of the tournament.
