After another disappointing split from one of the oldest organizations in all of League of Legends, Counter Logic Gaming is making a roster change in the top lane by promoting academy top laner Niship “Dhokla” Doshi to the main roster for the 2022 League Championship Series Summer split. Thomas “Jenkins” Tran will be benched in the meantime.

The change comes after CLG’s fifth straight split finishing in the bottom three teams of the LCS. The team, however, did win more games in the 2022 LCS spring split than they did in their previous four splits, but they were still unable to clinch a playoff spot. Looking at the team, management saw top lane as one of the outliers in poor performance. Dhokla, meanwhile, was one of the best performers across all teams in Academy.

As a member of CLG Academy, Dhokla led the team to a first-place finish in the 2022 NA Academy spring split. Dhokla, according to Oracleselixer.com, led all top laners in Gold Difference at 15 minutes and placed in the top three among all top laners in virtually every single statistic. He was also named the NA Academy 2022 spring MVP and was voted as the most likely player to make an impact on the main roster.

Dhokla also showed off his work ethic in the newly formed Champions Queue. In fact, Dhokla took home the Champions Queue Split 2 title, outplacing every single player in all of North American League of Legends. In the official announcement made by CLG, General Manager Jonathan McDaniel said he knew it was time to bring Dhokla up.

“We’re thrilled to be able to reward Dhokla for his performance and hard work throughout the Spring season by naming him as the starter for CLG LCS as we head into the Summer Season.” McDaniel said.

CLG kicks off the 2022 LCS summer season on June 18.
