The fourth week of the Call of Duty League saw the Los Angeles Guerrillas and Optic Gaming LA host an action-packed weekend. However, according to Esports Charts, the CDL saw its lowest viewership yet. Peak viewership for the Los Angeles Home Series was 66,951, which is very poor when compared with previous events. For instance, the Atlanta Home Series peaked at almost 112,000 viewers, while the London Home Series peaked at 111,000 viewers.

Overall, the event gathered an average of 38,553 viewers which is a significant drop for the CDL. The most viewed match of the weekend was the Grand Final between the Dallas Empire and Minnesota ROKKR. This saw the Dallas Empire take the victory in game five.

In addition, the Minnesota ROKKR were in three of the five most viewed games as they were very successful this weekend. For example, they defeated Atlanta Faze in the semi-final and finished the event in second place. Ultimately, this led the Minnesota ROKKR to be recognized as one of the top teams in the League so far.

What caused the viewership to drop?

The highest viewed matches from the Los Angeles Home Series feature a variety of teams. Usually, the matches that feature the top teams are the most popular. This suggests that Call of Duty fans are more interested in a wider range of teams and players as the League becomes more competitive. However, the most prominent cause for the overall viewership drop is the absence of the Chicago Huntsmen.

Since the beginning of the League, the Chicago Huntsmen have been the most popular team, with their matches bringing in the most viewers. The Los Angeles Home Series was the first event that the Chicago Huntsmen did not attend. Therefore, this could explain the dramatic viewership drop.

The next CDL Home Series is set to take place in Dallas from March 28 to March 29. The Chicago Huntsmen will be competing in the Dallas Home Series. In addition, Call of Duty fans will have the opportunity to see Paris Legion and Toronto Ultra, who also did not compete in LA.
