For the first time in two years, the CS:GO community rallied together to celebrate the world’s top teams competing live at a major, with record viewership for CS:GO, a $2 million prize pool and massive narratives for some of the esports’ best players throughout the tournament.

After going head-to-head in a sweat-inducing best-of-three grand final against Nikola “NiKo” Kovač and his G2 Esports squad, Na’Vi won in double overtime on Nuke. The squad leapt up as the crowd roared in the background in support of the new champions. Shortly after, Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev lifted his long-awaited first major trophy in the air, his teammates beaming beside him.

But the feel-good moments from CS:GO’s biggest event of the year weren’t quite over yet.

Two wins in one day

Host James Banks interviewed the team on the PGL broadcast, sharing in their excitement as the players expressed their personal sentiments. Before leaving the stage, Banks called the crowd’s attention to Boombl4, who had a few words he wanted to share with the audience.

The 22-year-old shyly took the mic and shared he knew that his girlfriend was watching in Moscow, Russia. He continued on, saying he wanted to ask one question: “Will you marry me, Lika?” Shock flushed across Banks’ face as he exclaimed, “Oh my! Well, that is a stage to do it on!”

After the excitement cooled down, Boombl4 confirmed on his official Instagram account that his now-fiancé has accepted his proposal.
