Best hair of the North American VALORANT LCQ: Upmind

In his first VALORANT LAN broadcast, Upmind stole the show with a great hair day on the desk

Viewers tuning into the VALORANT Champions Tour North American Last Chance Qualifier were greeted with a new sight on the first day of competition. The tournament’s new LAN setting for one, skull and all, but also the stacked assortment of VALORANT broadcast talent, including the hard-to-miss Gustavo “Upmind” Franco Domingues and his red afro.

The 21-year-old play-by-play caster has always drawn eyes to his lofty head of hair, even when casting from his bedroom, but this was the first time many VALORANT fans got to see the red cloud in full force.

Sitting between the veteran talents of Christine “potter” Chi and Loviel “Velly” Cardwell (the latter of which is also known for having great hair), the young up-and-comer stood out in the best way possible. Upmind recently shared with Upcomer his hair routine to keep his large mane well-kept for a broadcast on the scale of the North American VALORANT LCQ.

Upmind’s hair care routine

First and foremost, Upmind brushes his hair before he steps in the shower in order to detangle it. Then, he hops in the shower and brushes it with the water coming down as well.

Below is his full hair care process:

  • Shampoo, rinse and repeat the process once (Upmind uses Mielle pomegranate shampoo and conditioner)
  • Apply conditioner, do not rinse and leave the shower
  • Return to the shower after 15 minutes and rinse out most of the conditioner
  • Lastly, leave the shower and apply leave-in conditioner

This is all done the night before, as it takes a while for his hair to fully dry after the process. For Upmind’s sleep the night before the big broadcast, he ties up his hair and sleeps on his side. To brush it out and set it in place, Upmind uses hair picks to keep his afro in check.

Upmind also keeps a pick on him on-stage, in case his hair needs a quick detangle before the camera turns back to him. Now, fans and viewers can get their hair dolled up just like the multi-faceted caster manning the analyst desk on the first day of the VALORANT competition.
