Bel’Veth, durability patch cleanup highlight League of Legends Patch 12.11

Many more champion buffs and nerfs just in time for the new AD jungler release
This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information

League of Legends Patch 12.11 introduces a brand new champion into the game, Bel’Veth. However, it also contains a ton of balance adjustments coming off the heels of one of the biggest patches in the game’s history. Plus, since it’s summer time, there are many pool party-esque skins coming out, too.

Here are the highlights players need to know before jumping off the deep end in Patch 12.11 releasing Wednesday.

Bel’Veth

Bel’Veth is the newest champion coming to League of Legends. The Empress of the Void, Bel’Veth is an attack damage melee jungler that has been hyped up since her teaser trailer came out a couple of weeks ago.

Her passive ability, Death in Lavender, states that whenever she scores a takedown, she gains a stack of Lavender. These stacks grant Bel’Veth bonus attack speed. The other parts of her passive include modifying the attack speed cap to 10, which makes Bel’Veth look a little goofy when she hits that cap. However, her auto attacks deal reduced damage and she doesn’t not gain attack speed per level.

Her first ability is Void Surge. This ability makes Bel’Veth dash a fixed distance dealing physical damage to enemies she passes through.

Her second ability is Above and Below. Bel’Veth slams her tail in a target direction dealing magic damage to enemies it hits. It also knocks up and slows enemies for a duration.

Her third ability is Royal Maelstrom. This ability makes Bel’Veth rapidly slash at the nearest enemy with the lowest health. The amount of slashes is based on her bonus attack speed.

Finally, her Ultimate is Endless Banquet. This ability has a passive and an active effect. The passive states that whenever Bel’Veth auto attacks something, she applies a mark onto her target for a duration. Whenever she auto attacks someone with a mark, she deals bonus true damage. But the most important part of this passive is that if she scores a takedown while being alive, a “Void Coral” spawns from their corpse for a short duration. When a Void Coral is spawned, Bel’Veth can cast her Ultimate ability.

This makes Bel’Veth dash to the target Void Coral and consumes it. When she does this, she turns into her True Form. When in her True Form, Bel’Veth gains bonus health, bonus movement speed and bonus attack range. She is in her True Form for 60 seconds for each Void Coral consumed. If the Void Coral was created from Baron or Rift Herald it lasts for 180 seconds. The neat thing here is that if Bel’Veth scores a takedown while in her True Form and gets another Void Coral, the timer resets. It is possible to truly have an Endless Banquet with this champion.

Durability adjustments

With one of the biggest patches in League of Legends history coming out in 12.10, there were many things that needed tweaking in Patch 12.11 to help push the meta into a healthier state. The durability patch was released with the goal to make champions stay alive longer in fights and decrease damage levels overhaul. However, in Patch 12.10, some champions were oppressive as a result of these changes. In Patch 12.11 there are many buffs and nerfs that players should look out for.

Brand, Gwen, Aatrox, Kog’Maw, Lilia, Master Yi, Rengar, Senna, Swain, Taliyah, Veigar and Wukong are all receiving nerfs. A lot of these nerfs are happening because these champions simply were doing way too much damage, even after the Durability patch. Some champions that were gutted because of the patch are getting buffs.

Aphelios, Caitlyn, Gragas, Irelia, Lee Sin, Nunu & Willump, Rakan, Ryze, Samira, Sona, Sylas, Tahm Kench, Taric, Tryndamere and Xin Zhao are all getting buffs to either help them do more damage or help them survive like they are intended.

As for items, there are a lot of adjustments there as well. Tank items like Turbo Chemtank, Sunfire Aegis and Fristfire Guantlet are getting buffed, as they have not seen much play since Patch 12.10. As for some other items, Blade of the Ruined King, Death’s Dance, Sterak’s Gage and Goredrinker are also a little underpowered and are getting buffed as well.

Cosmetics

Many skins are also coming out in League of Legends Patch 12.11. The Ocean Song skin line makes its debut in this patch. Ashe, Nidalee, Seraphine, Yone and Zeri will receive summer-themed pool party skins with a music twist. Seraphine of course will be receiving a prestige edition version of her new skin as well. The rest of the champions including Seraphine will also be receiving chroma’s too. Bel’Veth will be releasing alongside a new Battle Boss skin which will be her release skin. This skin also has chroma’s available.
