Atlanta Reign finalizes 2020 Overwatch League roster

The Atlanta Reign has announced its entire roster for the 2020 Overwatch League season. Owned by communications company Cox Enterprises and operated by Atlanta Esports Ventures, the esports organization has maintained the same core roster with a few recent additions. The team achieved upper half bracket results during Season 2 and has great potential.

Season 3 of Overwatch League

The Atlanta Reign roster contains DPS players Jeong “Erster” Joon, Andrej “babybay” Francisty, Kim “Edison” Tae-Hoon, and Hugo “SharP” Sahlberg. The tank role features Blake “Gator” Scott, Xander “Hawk” Domecq, Hyunjun “Pokpo” Park, and Nathan “frd” Goebel. Support players Petja “Masaa” Kantanen, Dusttin “Dogman” Bowerman, Anthony “Fire” King, and Steven “Kodak” Rosenberger finish off the lineup.

The coaching staff consists of head coach Brad “Sephy” Rajani, along with assistant coaches Dimitri “Silence” Couturet and Kim “Mentalist” Chung-In. The first two have been with the team since 2018, with Mentalist as a new signing in November of 2019. Support players Fire and Kodak were signed to the Atlanta Reign roster today from Team Envy and Atlanta Academy, respectively. Other recent signings are also from the same two teams, which include Hawk, Edison, and SharP in late 2019.

Atlanta Reign in 2020

The offseason saw the departure of Daniel “FunnyAstro” Hathaway to the Philadelphia Fusion. Steven “Kodak” Rosenberger transferred to the academy team, while Daniel “dafran” Francesca transitioned to a streamer position. Donghyeong “DACO” Seo is currently a free agent and Ilya “NLaaeR” Koppalov has retired.

The team achieved 6th place during Season 2 of the Overwatch League, but was defeated in the Playoffs by the Hangzhou Spark. Nevertheless, they took home a $300,000 cut of the $3.5 million prize pool and tied with the Los Angeles Gladiators. The Atlanta Reign will play their first matches of Season 3 against the Toronto Defiant and Paris Eternal on Feb. 29 – Mar. 1 at the Revention Music Center in Houston.
