2022 LCS Summer split Week 6 preview

DIG, C9 and FLY are the teams to watch this week

The 2022 League of Legends Championship Series Summer split continues its season with Week 6 kicking off this weekend. With all 10 teams playing twice over the weekend, there are a lot to look forward too when it comes to storylines and matchups. Here is a look at three storylines from three teams that spectators should keep an eye on going into Week 6 of the 2022 LCS summer season.

Dignitas’ new 2022 LCS Summer roster

It’s been a disappointing year for Dignitas. After they made moves to acquire Noh “Gamsu” Yeong-jin and Kim “River” Dong-woo, the team failed to do anything relevant with the hyped top-jungle duo. And after starting the summer split 2-9, DIG has thrown in the towel; earlier this week, DIG traded away River to Golden Guardians and also demoted Gamsu back to Academy. In Week 6, Dignitas will be fielding a roster comprised of mainly development pieces as the team is currently in last place. However, the team is also only one game out of the playoff picture. It will be interesting to see if DIG is fielding this roster because they believe it’s the best chance for them to win, or if they’re just looking at the future.

Cloud9’s test

After the Week 1 disaster for Cloud9, the team has managed to go 6-2 in games since to put them into the playoff picture. After going 2-0 in Week 5, the team is now met with two games in Week 6 that will make or break their contender or pretender status. C9 goes up against the 7-4 FlyQuest on Saturday, then Team Liquid Honda who is also 7-4 on Sunday. In two games against the two teams right ahead of them in the standings, a clean sweep will prove that C9 are among the best in the league; on the other hand, an 0-2 week will solidify their pretender status.

FlyQuest’s momentum

FLY has been in similar positions before. As a team who has gotten hot in previous splits just to cool off before playoffs, it’s hard to figure this organization out. The team is in third place in the 2022 LCS summer standings heading into Week 6 after their 2-0 Week 6 performance. However, like C9, they weren’t really tested last week in their matches against GG and DIG. But in Week 6 it’s put up or shut up. FLY’s mid-laner Loïc “toucouille” Dubois is having quite the split as he has been the main carry force for this team. However, he will be put to the test against C9’s Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen and Evil Geniuses Joseph “Jojopyun” Pyun in a week that could allow FLY to either break into the top two or stumble back down to the bottom of the playoff picture.
