Modern Warfare 3 offers the most camos ever seen in a Call of Duty title. There are over 600 brand new camos to earn across MW3 multiplayer and Zombies and 12 separate Mastery Camos. However, this doesn’t even include the crop of MW2 camos that are also usable in the new game.
With the MW2 weapons carrying forward in MW3, all 77 of the weapons’ individual camos and the four Mastery Camos from multiplayer are also included. You are also able to earn any camos you didn’t unlock for the MW2 weapons in MW3.
However, the big question on every fan’s mind is whether or not you can use the Mastery Camos from MW2, Gold, Platinum, Polyatomic, and Orion, on the new MW3 weapons, and vice versa.
Using Mastery Camos from MW2 on MW3 weapons
Unfortunately, Mastery Camos are not able to be used on any weapon aside from those they are intended for. This means you cannot use Orion on the MCW from MW3 and you can’t use one of the MW3 Mastery Camos, such as Interstellar, on something like the TAQ-56.
While this might be disappointing to some players, there is a silver lining. Just because the Mastery Camos are not transferrable across games doesn’t mean the base camos aren’t.
According to Activision, you can use any base camo you have unlocked in either MW2 or MW3 on any of the 114 available weapons in MW3. This also applies to event camos, so those of you that grinded for the Haunting’s Ghoulie camo are able to use it on the new MW3 weapons.
Basically, you can use any camo on any weapon in multiplayer except for MW2’s Gold, Platinum, Polyatomic, and Orion and MW3’s Gilded, Forged, Priceless, and Interstellar. The same goes for Zombies also, as you can’t use the MW3 Zombies Mastery Camos on MW2 weapons and vice versa.
So if you unlock any Mastery Camo in MW3, just remember you can only use it on the weapons from the same game. With the base and event camos from either MW2 or MW3, you can go wild and use them on any weapon you have unlocked.
